Fine Art Framer

 
 
 

Description:

We are looking for an experienced candidate to join the Framing Department as a fine art framer. This is a freelance position, with the possibility of becoming a part or full-time, hourly position. The candidate would be required to work 1-2 days per week and must be experienced in working in a fast paced production studio. This position requires impeccable attention to detail, organization and multi-tasking.

Requirements:

  • Cutting mats to size, and cutting 4ply and 8ply mat windows

  • Knowledge of and practice with archival hinging techniques

  • Fitting artwork

  • Acrylic and glass cutting and cleaning

  • Prepare spacers for frames

  • Working with frame designers to assess framing needs

  • Ensure that deadlines are met for exhibition and shipping

Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years experience as a frame fitter (particular experience with fine art photographic prints and works on paper a plus)

  • Knowledge of best art handling / paper handling practices

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritize to meet strict deadlines

  • Ability to work and communicate professionally and responsibly with others

  • Ability to deal effectively and efficiently with multiple tasks

  • Dependable and consistent

  • Proactive with excellent organization skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail

Compensation:

  • Hourly, based on experience and skill level
